Tylototriton verrucosus

It has now approx. 3'' in length and is far bigger than any of it's aquatic siblings.

I hope its a male and you get it to breed just like that. Then we can stalk it's offspring for months to see what happens.

It looks like the Golden one is adding some freckles, still no sign of morphing.

That is amazing! I have raised hundreds of this species over the years, and I never got a white one. :(

It is now about eight months old and just about 4'' long.
I suspect it may well be neotenic. It seems to have a different head shape with a larger forehead and smaller lower jaw than its siblings.

Wow this is amazing! Congratulations! I cant wait to see what it looks like when it grows up, will be very cool to find out! -Seth

The little golden tylo doesn't seem so happy at the moment. It has become less active and I am not sure if it is ill or is maybe starting to morph. The caudal fin seems to be diminishing a little.

Very nice. Hope he will make it to.

Its looking much more its normal 'lively' self now. I still suspect that it is morphing as the dorsal fin seems to be very slowly diminishing.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
