Tylototriton verrucosus

You are right, and it certainly had toes at one point. I had it in a tank with one of its siblings a while ago and suspect it lost them then. The feet are slowly regrowing and I can just about see toes now, but its taken a long time.

I think this is now approx. a year old. It is measuring just over 3'' and little has changed since I last posted. I tried to identify which sex this is, but couldn't see anything :/

The limbs look like they're too small for the animal.

Maybe it can't regrow the missing toes/legs like a normal newt, I wonder if it's a side effect of the neoteny ?

I am not sure what is going on with the feet and legs. Out of all the other juveniles I have raised I have never had one loose all its feet like this one has. It has very tiny toes on some feet, but they do not seem to be growing any bigger.

The toes are regrowing :) Also added a photo of the golden tylo with a six month old sibling. I don't think the gold one will grow much more now.

Haha I've never seen a neotenic tylotriton of any sort before i wonder if being golden caused this. Also I'm the legs are small because its neotenic my axolotl has little legs and they are neotenic

A vision of elegance.....

He is looking good

I decided that it was time to clean the glass on my adults tank. Now I can see them clearly enough to take a few photo's with my new camera :)

What type camera? Lens?

Time for a little update.
Since reading Mr Cyclones comment I have put them in a more aquatic set up. I did have a heater in with them, but when it started making scary sounds I removed it. The water temperature is approx. 15 degrees at the moment. They enjoy eating earthworms and the largest is now close to 3 inches in length.

Hi Julia,
Hope your well :)
Been a while :)
A very interesting read.... Stunning...
Lee...

I decided it was time to see how many juveniles were left, in the process of fishing them out I realised their tank needed a good clean. I was feeling quite pleased afterwards and decided to take some photo's of the golden one...When I came to view them I realised I had forgotten to do the glass

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
