Photo: My Tank and my 2 Axolotls (Brasil)

Hello everybody!

I'm posting new photos of my Axies, I need help to identify the sex.

I think the leucistic is male and the wild type is female, and about the golden, I need to take some photos with a good angle.

Can help me?

How long ago did the wild get white toes? It might still be a little too early to tell. When my axies toes changed, I immediately assumed they were both female. A month later, one of them turned out to be a male. It's painfully obvious when they're male haha

And I don't see black toes on the leucistic (I could be wrong, let me know if they are black), so it's definitely too early to guess for that one.

No much time ago, they are growing up a lot, but the white fingers appeared now.
The leucistic and the golden dont have black fingers yet.

It early to know?

thanks bro.

I love the pic of your avatar! ahaha

Hello everybody!

Finally I bought a good camera haha
Just to update, some close of my babies.

I have 4 axolotls, 1 albino, 1 albino gold and 2 wild types. All of them have more than one year and once I got some eggs of my couple... But I didn't know how to keep them and all the larvaes died.. :(

I hope get some eggs again now... But with this heat it is hard !

Congratulations again, from now on I will follow your post here :)

Abraços,
Rafael

Ahh, love the photo of the three of them hanging out together. As they grow up they get lazier and move around less, in my experience anyway!

Dans !

How are you ?

Definitly your golden albino is a male ! And the Leucistic and wild Type are females, in my opinion !

:)

By the way, your axies are gorgeous ! And I loved the picture of your Leucistic with the open mouth :p

I'm pretty sure your leucistic is female, mainly because she is so round! My first instinct was that the golden was female too but I think you might have to wait a little longer to be sure. They're gorgeous! Your leucistic swims beautifully :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
