I'm curious, since I'm trying to find axolotls of my own as well, how are you going to set up their habitat? I know that they are quite aggressive to each other in their earlier months, and may each each other. Are you keeping them separated until they grow older?

Also......where did you get them from!?

They're looking great, and adorable!

If you keep them well fed and give them enough space they are generally fine.

Zomg they are adorable!!

They will bring you hou :)rs of fun

Thanks guys :)

Well I have an aquarium set up for when they get older...but I was told by the breeder at this size they would be better in small tubs so they could find their food easier. He said keep them in separate tubs like this for a couple of months till they get bigger. I got them from Feeder Frenzy Reptiles. :)

Their first go at live brine shrimp. My local pet store was out of live black worms...so I thought I would try this...and even though you can't see it in the pictures they are loving the brine.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
