haha, I must admit, I laughed pretty hard at your axie's names. :D Very stunning animals though, I love the look of the gold one on that black sand!

Yeah garlic pops really well! Unfortunately Potato does just the opposite :p I have mini panic attacks when I can't find her right away!

I prefer the black one, love this color, but it looks difficul to take the pictures in this sand xD

It's not too difficult, at least not with Potato, for some reason. She usually comes right up to the glass while I'm taking pictures! Garlic tends to go and hide though haha. I like to think he's camera shy...

Oops I took more photos of them
I had to separate them because they keep breeding (which is bad for Potato, I should have separated them earlier) and I think it stressed them out, poor guys.
I think Garlic snagged his tail on something (or potato nipped it??) because he's missing a little chunk. His gills are also a little smaller than usual. I'm keeping an eye on it..

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
