I received some eggs from gfsward. Great quality and they hatched yesterday. I tried to take a few pictures. I am a little confused as to what their colors maybe. Some seem like wildtypes, some are grey and some seem to have a gold or yellow tone to them. I know we are more than likely guessing until they get older but I would love to hear everyones opinions. I have sent a message to gfsward asking if she remembered the parents of this batch. I think she said a melanoid and lutistic but am not 100% sure. Anyway hope everyone enjoys the pics.

The yellowish ones are probably wildtype, with the grey ones likely being melanoid or leucistic.

Just heard back from Grace about the babies parents "Leucistic mother and GFP melanoid father. You'll get a mix of leucistic, melanoid and wild type."

Just a few updated pics. I am So Loving the differences in the colors.

Im so excited to see what colors the first and forth pics turn out to be.

Your first one's a leucistic, for sure. It may be melanoid leucistic (cool!).

Thank you so much Kaysie. I will have to see if I can find a picture of a melanoid leucistic, Ive never seen one. Honestly I dont care what color they turn out to be as long as they are healthy.

Does anyone happen to know where I could find a picture of a Melanoid Leucistic? I am very curious as to what one looks like even if that is not the color my babe turns out to be.

I am SO excited. I think I have the begining of legs. AAHHHH :happy::rofl::D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
