Hi I though some information of cutting glass may be of interest. On a later thread some cut sizes and the instructions on how to assemble the two tier tank. First find your window glass and check it over discard any laminate (looks from the edge like two plates of glass sandwiched together) and toughened (usually has a very feint warning label etched into the surface) also disregard any with all the edges machine finished smooth ( most likely toughened as well). Clean it well and remove all the putty and paint with a sharp blade. The first picture shows a list of tools you require get a new glass cutter and change the cutting wheel frequently they are quite cheap and make life much easier. Make the first cut holding the cutter as shown ( I have marked the cut line with a felt tip they are hard to photograph.) You have to hold the cutter and draw it down the glass with just slightly more force than you do a ball point pen. You should make a very fine thin scratch the whole length of the glass ( If the line is incomplete or made with a jerkey movement either you are pushing down too hard or the cutting wheel is blunt). Now turn the glass over and work from the back of the scratch. Hold it as show (its important) now tap it with the file you should see a fine crack appearing chase this crack with the file tapping it down the glass . Job done ! Dipping your glass cutter in white spirit or paraffin every so often keeps it running well. Oh and by the way the hands cutting the glass is my daughter she is six and can do it so you can too.RegardsKB

I would be doing this with much larger pieces though, a foot long or more, im sure that gets interesting...

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
