My mum is a biology teach which is how i first found out about axolotls; years later i inherited a tank off of a university student who couldn't look after the fish that were in it. The fish in my mums tank at her school died and one thing led to another:D

I got Terrance (female, first picture) in October and Clarence (unclear of sex yet, second picture) a couple of weeks ago and i love them dearly:D
i hope to learn many things from you guys in the future as well

Very nice axies and welcome to the forum, it's always nice to have new keepers on the forum. Can we see a Picture of the whole setup?

Thankyou
It's hard to get a decent picture because you can't get far enough away in my room :p It's a five foot by 18 inches^2 :D going to get some more axies soon i hope

That's a fantastic tank, and all running off a single sponge filter?! Does that manage to keep the water clean? And how often does it need to be cleaned? Having just invested in a £70 canister filter, I'd love to know if even the large tanks can be managed by the more affordable sponge filters.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
