It's even a bit sad that they grow that fast but I haven't noticed - until I looked at their first pics the other day. Shame they can't see the pics and reminisce with me lol
A new addition to the family - tiny little skinny Babe. Got him off Gumtree yesterday after seeing a pic of him on those nasty pebbles... He's only about 14-15cm long yet the owner insisted she had him for a year and he's 2 yrs old - I didn't want to argue but he looks a couple of months younger than my guys and they're less than a year old... He also has a bit of an issue with one leg, it's a little twisted, but that doesn't worry him a bit Anyways, resetting his tank with sand and safe hides today, hopefully he'll grow fast - he eats like a vacuum cleaner, looks very hungry to me. Named him Babe since he's tiny and pink and piggy-like. I'm in love all over again
Their gills are even fluffier now than in those pics and they're 23-24cm long now haha (measured them this morning since they were in a tub for a few minutes))) twice the size in 4 month - they may very well grow into crocodiles at this rate!)
just bought my 3 month old gold albino and black one today, this is a bit like looking forward and seeing what i hope mine look like. truly amazing they grow so quickly.
My third baby - one month between the pics; all I am doing is feeding small portions twice a day and keeping him in clear water)) very happy with his looks now!
Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
