I think more melanoid than wildtype. But who knows maybe my eyes are bad :happy:

Thank you XD MY eyes are kinda bad so that's why I asked. I'm not sure of the requirements for melanoid either :/

Looks like a pretty melanoid to me. Melanoid is generally defined in this forum as lacking irridiphores, the shiny pigments in axolotl skin. It is easiest to tell by looking at the eyes. A wild type will have shiny rings around their eyes in bright light, a melanoid will not. You can shine a flashlight on them to see the irridiphores easily.

Well, that explains why she is so pretty! I have a black melanoid from Margie, and she has those amazing gills too... and super cute!

Clareclare:Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?+1
