Your axolotls are so lovely! I am new here too, and new to owning an axolotl, so I too have lots and lots to learn. I met my first axolotl 45 years ago, and have hoped that one day I would own one ever since. At long last the little axie of my dreams came along. That was a VERY long wait :D :

Yes and depending where you live they are difficult to find a seller i live in eastern ct and i had to drive to fall river, MA abt an hr or so drive but theres the best fish store ever a little hole in the wall its called Aquastetics but they have the best fish collection you can imagine i am consumed by these guys they are very intriguing i fell in love with their smile and i ahd to have them.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
