Many people recommend Prime water conditioner for axolotls, but when I was at the fish store it wasn’t available. Microbe-Lift XTreme was what the employee there recommended, who has owned axolotls in the past, but I’m a bit skeptical whether or not this is a conditioner suitable for axolotls. I couldn’t find the ingredients on the bottle, I am aware that axolotls are allergic to iodine and aloe vera, so that’s why I am worried about this stuff. If anyone has had experience using this conditioner I would really appreciate it if you let me know, or if anyone could help me out in finding out the ingredients that would be much appreciated as well. Thanks!

I was recommended this too! Got it home a few days ago and only just looked online to see if it's safe. I found a document on their website that listed a few ingredients and it does contain aloe Vera! Meaning it will damage the slime coat on an axolotl!

I was ensured countless times by the guy in the store that it was safe and didn't contain iodine and aloe Vera. So I will be taking it back and educating them!!!

Thank you for the help! It’s a bit odd that there are no listed ingredients on the bottle and it’s quite misleading because when I read the label it basically said that it was suitable for all fish and invertebrates. I’m in a bit of a hurry to set up my tank and get it cycled because we don’t want to keep the breeder waiting, so unfortunately I did use the water conditioner in my tank a week ago when I was setting it up, I’m not exactly sure what to do now. This all could have been avoided if the employee hadn’t of gave us a possibly harmful water conditioner. I’m pretty sure he even said that that one was safe for axolotls. Was it Maidenhead Aquatics that you visited? Because that’s where I went to get my supplies and I specifically asked for Prime but the guy said that they didn’t have any and gave us Microbe Lift Xtreme instead.

It was Maidenhead! They told me it was safe and that one of their stores used it for axolotls but I didn't want to risk it, I've used it too a few days ago before I checked. It should be okay as long as you stop using it and move to something like prime. I'm swapping to it myself. Best bet is to do a partial water change, maybe like 50% using a new dechlorinator and you should be good :) as long as you don't use it with the lotl in there you should be fine

Thank you again for the helpful advice! I think I am just going to switch to Prime, I’m a first time axolotl owner and don’t want to risk anything happening to my axie.

Had a look at Microbe Lift’s website there and it actually said that it was suitable for amphibians so I dropped them an email to ask about that. They really shouldn’t be saying that it is suitable for amphibians if it’s not suitable for all. I haven’t got a response yet 4/6/20.
