    Illness/Sickness: Leg Issue!

Hello, Attached are a couple pictures of my monster's leg. I'm not sure how this injury happened, as there's just two of them in the tank of the same size, and nothing substantial has changed in their environment. The reason for this aside, I'm wondering what my course of treatment should be...

    Baby with air in stomach?

Hello. So I have one little guy that's maybe a couple weeks or so old (front legs are just starting to form) and I noticed that he has a large air bubble in his stomach. I don't know how it got there or what's up with it so he's obviously floating. You can even see it inside him. :( I've never...

    Brains??!

Howdy. I noticed this morning that my girl has something funky going on inside of her head. I did just read something about an abscess and I really hope it's not that. I hope the pictures did it justice. There's no physical part that's coming out yet - it's just discolouration under the skin...

    Feeding Time!

Alright - so they've hatched, woo! I can see that one of them is already dead, another is spinning fruitlessly around in circles, and the rest are just chilling on the ground waiting to get big enough to nibble on my fingers. My sources of live food for them have come down to just brine shrimp...

Advice on what to do after hatching! Please read and contribute!

So my babies are growing and growing, it's quite terrifying to think that I have all those monsters growing in those tiny little eggs. But I have some 'ethical' issues I'm hoping some of you can help out with. I don't want to kill all the babies off, but realistically I don't have room to...

Didn't know axolotls celebrated Valetines Day...

...because when I looked at my tank today I saw a bunch of eggs everywhere! I've been doing a quick read on everything so I think I'm going to be prepared for them, I just have to acquire the live food to feed them. Though a nagging question in my head is are all the eggs fertilized? Unless I...

Question: Guppies: Breeding + Food for Axolotls

Firstly I have to say this site spoils us. I tried looking around for a good guppy site and could find nothing that compares to the knowledge of the site and the people on the forums! Then again I may have missed something - there are thousands of guppy sites! :( Just wanted to say thanks up...

    Illness/Sickness: Big Axo, little Axo..

Heya, I always seem to be here when something is wrong! :( I've had my two guys for almost two months and they have been doing good. Though the past month or so I've noticed that one of them has grown huge while the other hasn't really been doing much. He has also started to get very thin and...

    Filter efficiency.

I'm concerned about my filter and if it's doing a good job. I've checked my tank and the parameters are improving since my last post (http://www.caudata.org/forum/showthread.php?t=55719). I'm just worried that the filter I chose which is some cheap $15 Cascade 300 Internal filter isn't doing the...

To float or not to float, that is the question..

Hiya! Have a bit of a weird problem. One of my guys will float and seem like they're freaking out (and flailing) then will settle down on the bottom with no problems whatsoever. No floating, no freaking out, no flailing. I don't get it. Do they do this for fun? I think I read a post that...

Many topics from a newb! Long post ahead. :)

Heya, I'm Jack. Got two Axolotls a week ago, they're about 3" long or so and just the coolest pets I have ever owned. I did my research and found that my current 10 gallon tank would be okay for them until they start to grow so I since I saw some at the pet store I grabbed them! Now that I've...

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
