    Species recommendations for breeding project

I may have the opportunity to build an insulated greenhouse in the next year or so. I would like to use it to propagate various aquatics, especially ones requiring a winter cooling phase. I have kept salamanders for about ten years, but have never tried to breed any. I would like some...

Anyone raised sea slaters (Ligia sp.)?

I'm on the coast right now, and sea slaters, AKA wharf roaches (Ligia exotica) are quite common. These are large (1-1.5" long), fast moving isopods. They mainly hang out above the water line on jetties and docks, but will crawl into saltwater with little hesitation. I think they would make an...

    Herping in Japan

Hi all, I will be visiting my brother in Japan this April. I'd like to check out the wildlife while I'm there. I'd be grateful for any info you could give me regarding: good herping and other wildlife spots (preferably on Honshu, I don't think I'll be able to travel to the other islands)...

    Hello from Tennessee

Hi, my name is Nathan and I love salamanders. Besides the three species I currently keep (two Ambystoma species and Siren intermedia) I have at various times in the past kept eastern and fire-bellied newts, a few other Ambystoma, and a handful of plethodontids. I also keep several species of...

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
