    Kaiseri - Article 10

Hi all, Very sad days.I will be selling my collection soon. For my group of N.kaiseri I will need to secure some Article 10 certificates, however I'm a bit confused by the form. Is anyone that has successfully completed this process, able to send me an example of what you sent? I think mine is...

    Hello!

Hi everyone, I haven't been on the forum for nearly two months, so I think an introduction is required. So: Hello! I am Rob, Nice to meet you all? How are you? What's been going on?

    Moving...

Hey guys, I will probably be moving again over the next few months, I'm a pro by now at moving my newts and setups. However I may be moving to a one bedroom flat/apartment, so I am a bit concerned about temperatures etc. At the moment all my animals are in one room, which I can keep at a...

    Phenomenon?

Hi everyone, I come to you today, incredibly confused... I was doing my routinely water change for my C.orientalis, and I suddenly noticed something in front of the pump I use to extract water/debris. I was like...."hmmm hang on... I know what that is", so quickly I removed the pump and...

    Captive bred vs Wild caught

Does anyone know of a good article that compares the pros and cons of getting CB and WC newts? It would be useful to link some people to them.

    C.pyrrhogaster larvae

The thing I have enjoyed most about raising the C.pyrrhogaster larvae so far is seeing them adapt to their changing bodies. When they first start to feed (once their egg yolk is gone) they hunt like some species of fish. They wait for their prey to be directly in front of them, and make a quick...

    Pickled newts (warning graphic pictures)

Found myself at a surgical museum this week (Hunterian Museum: Hunterian Museum; The Royal College of Surgeons of England), and while I walked around with a pretty disgusted face I took a few pictures that I thought some of you may find interesting. Unfortunately the pictures were taken on my...

    C.pyrrhogaster egg yolk

My first C.pyrrhogaster egg hatched 8 days ago, yet it still has a white belly, is that normal? I have read that the egg yolk should keep the larvae going for 'several/a couple' of days, 8 is way more than that in my eyes! I have been providing freshly hatched Artemia, so do not know whether it...

    Random tank critters

I recently got a new toy :D Although so far I have found it funner to just watch the critters, I thought I would share some of the first pictures I took with the new toy (excuse the quality, it is difficult to get focus on things that are moving quickly). Cynops pyrrhogaster larvae Glassworm...

    New 'Like' feature

Anyone else a bit confused how it is meant to be used? Is it a replacement for reputation, or is it meant to be used supplementary to user reputation? Does it make reputation points redundant? Are people likely to click ‘Like’ than to give reputation for a post? I imagine that it is to be used...

Daphnia: higher carotenoids when provided good light

Unfortunately I don't have access to the full article but thought this sentence gave food for thought : "Females reared in the light contain three times as much carotenoid as similarly fed females reared in the dark" Source: Carotenoids in daphnia - J.Green Although I don't know the...

What are these weird long things in with my daphnia

Ok, got my order of daphnia in today, and there appears to be other unknown creatures in with them. Can anyone tell me what they are? haha I assume they are from the same kind of family as daphnia, but I would like them identified. I was planning on culturing the daphnia, so do not really know...

    Lighting

Hey all! I was just wondering whether someone or someones could give me some advice about lighting. I want to fit lighting on my racks above my aquariums to give the plants a few hours extra light per day. Does anyone have an effective but not too costly solution? If you want me to provide...

One of those complaining threads (with pics)

So today I went to a local aquatic shop, which was not my normal one where I am a regular. I had been in it before, and knew it had a wide selection of aquatic plants, which I was after. While I was in there I thought I'd have a browse of the fish...and what did I see...you probably guessed it...

    Leech!

I returned from abroad yesterday and so have started cleaning my tanks today. In an empty tank I was going to move some newts too, I have found what I assume is a leech. I thought it was half an earthworm at first, but as far as I know, cut earthworms don't suction to the glass at one end! I...

    Oh-oh wikipedia

Hmmm, has anyone read the wikipedia entry for c.pyrrhogaster before? you wont like it! "It isn't a good idea to house them with other amphibians other than their own kind because the fire-bellied toad is known to try to eat newts. They may be housed with their close relative, Cynops orientalis...

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
