1) I have a Hagen Elite Stingray 10 underwater filter in my tank. I have noticed that the temperature of the water is not as cool as what I thought it should be. Is it likely that the filter is heating the water?

2) I'm a bit worried about the current in my tank, as far as I know I can't turn it 'down' on my filter, but I have angled it so the flow is hitting one wall. Still the gills of my Axo sort of 'wave around' when he is sitting still.. how can I tell if the flow is too strong?

Thanks.

as your filter gets conditioned it will clog up some and will pass less water. But then once you clean it, it will return more to its initial duty.

If axie doesn't swim so often or struggles to swim in current you'll know its too much. Sometimes they just "hang" with their tails lifted high when it's too strong.

best thing is too direct nozzle at glass and arrange things so that it percolates water through some stones or similar.

Good luck Kirsten

Unfortunately, any power-driven filter will heat the water to some extent. Choose a filter with the lowest possible wattage to minimize heating, or use bubble-driven filters. You can also help reduce the temp by using a screen lid instead of a solid top.
