Hi All! Well Joxter has been in the Fridge for nearly 5 days now and he still has not eaten anything. We have offered him worms, bits of raw prawn, pellets, meat, but he eats nothing. He does not seem swollen to indicate he has swallowed stones/gravel etc. He seems a little more active in the fridge - that being the only change.

hope a change does come but probably in the mean time its best that he is in the nice relaxed environment, and all you can do is keep offering food!
good luck hope everything goes well

Well the fridge tends to lower there metabolism making them eat less and move less.

if you want to try feeding him again take him out of the fridge, let his water cool to room temp and then try again

You posted to say that sharn has good advice? That seems a little pointless to post that Sharn has good advice.

Well maybe Stipe was going to say the same thing, but Sharn said it first...

Jordan - you have in the past made pointless posts on other peoples threads, don't pick on Stipe for his posts, that is a double standard.

And remember what I said about online abuse? If an argument strings up on this thread it could get deleted by a Moderator, and none of us want that, so please be civil. If arguments string up I will report it.

Sharon - Sometimes when Axolotls are under a lot of stress they sort of shut down. Some become very inactive and won't respond to anything, even food. Sharn is right, take him out of the fridge and let the water warm up a bit then try and feed him again. Keep him in a dark area of your home because the darkness is soothing and comforting. Axolotls do not have very good eye sight, but they can see shapes and light and under stress these shapes and light can seem scary.

Keep us posted on his health and good luck

Sharon - 5 days in the fridge may seem like a long time, but if he is not eating still I would keep him there. Keep his water clean and offer him food daily.

The axolotl colony has kept axolotls in the fridge for as long as 30 days.

Moving around is good, I hope he eats something or passes something soon.

You can always try to find a vet in your area that knows about axolotls.
