I got bigger tank , do axies like swallower water! ? Can I keep frogs with them? Iv also noticed some larg tanks I thought were for lizards have a sticker in corner a anchor and the date does this mean there aquariums for sure
They will be fine in a full 75 gallon tank. Check with the seller to see if it is an aquarium. Terrariums are not designed to hold water and usually have thinner walls. No, you should not keep frogs with axolotls- they will eat them if they get the chance.
'Axolotls should be fine in a 75, but I wouldn't fill the tank up 100%. About 50-75% of the way filled.'
Sorry, this is wrong. Fill the tank up to its full capacity, otherwise you are reducing the overall volume and making it harder to maintain safe water parameters. Ammonia and nitrites build faster in lower water volumes, and axolotls can cope with that water depth. I believe where they live/used to live in the wild, the water can be up to 5ft in depth.
Axolotls are fine in deeper tanks, their natural environment was up to 5ft deep. I have a commercial client who keeps axolotls in 4ft deep koi vats and they are fine.
