Looking for advice please.

My 9 year old axolotl has been loosing weight gradually over the last few months - I try to feed regularly but she's just not eating. She'll eat a tiny bit. She's very thin now. I'm suspecting old age really :( - she lives alone. She's always been feisty, fat and a good eater. But she's none of that anymore :(.

a) is there anything I can do to help her?
b) If the answer is no, what is the best way to euthanase her? (not looking immediately of course, but she has deteriorated quite a lot in the last 3 months, so I'd like to make her as comfortable as possible)

Thank you in advance

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
