Hi! I've been lurking in the dark for a while and have finally posted. Anyways, here are some pix of my newts, which I have three of. I made my own rain chamber for my 10 gallon, as you can see. More info coming. Maybe.

As you can see, I've modified the tank to the better since I took those pix. I hope that you like 'em all!

Karl:

I like the tank..is that a fluval 1? What do you have at the end of the hose to make it rain?

No, It's a Fluval 1 Plus ;)
I have holes poked into the tube which lets the water out, and it is taped off at the end. Also, The pictures at the bottom are from my old 5 gallon. (You should be able to tell them apart) I got them all as juveniles, each at a separate time. (The first one is over two years old, I think) But the last one is from June. Since changing setups, I have moved from pinhead crickets (which I absolutely hate) to bloodworms. The $3 Pothos plant is doing great and adds a lot. I'm not sure of the thickness of the tube, but it just happened to fit perfectly on to the filter output. The newts are quite happy in there. Thank-you for you comment.

Gord - At the pet store where I picked up my Fluval pumps, they have a wall that contains accessories for the Fluval pumps. I think its call a "Rain Bar". All it is is a flexible rubber hose that connects to the output of the pump. The hose then connects to a plastic cylinder with about 8 holes drilled in it. At the end of the cylinder its corked off. They work great at breaking up the strong current put off by these pumps but by allowing the water to spray directly down like a water fall, evaporation drastically increases

Karl - I think your tank looks great!

Cool setup! I'm going to get some Chinese Fire-bellys tomorrow.

I'm curious to know how long I should keep these newts in a setup like this. When should I go for a more aquatic setup? Eventually I would want them to breed, If I do have a pair. Thanks for any advice.
