I have two juvenile axolotls, they're about 4.5 inches long now. Each is in its own 10 gal tank with sand substrate and plenty of fake plants and ornaments to hide in. Their tanks aren't cycled yet, so I've been testing every day with the API master kit and doing 50% water changes when there's ammonia (pretty much every day right now). I added air stones to their tanks because I read that the extra oxygen promotes bacterial growth. They seem in pretty good shape, active and eating. I took pics tonight but they came out poorly so I'll try again tomorrow.

Once they're big enough, I'm thinking of putting them together in a larger tank. I guess I'd need a 20 gallon? Or larger? At what size is it safe to put them together? And at what size is a 10 gallon tank too small?

My other questions are about food. I'm alternating between bloodworms and pellets. Right now I feed them once per day. They each get half a cube of frozen bloodworms, or 7-10 pellets, per day. Is this a good feeding schedule, are the amounts correct?

I just gave them earthworms for the first time today. I have an indoor composter, so these are small "red wiggler" worms. I rinsed and cut them up first, as these worms make a mess of yellow stuff when first dug up. The axies seem to love them. Is one small wiggler enough per day or should they get more? Can they be fed whole worms or would this cause impaction?

One more question - at what age/size do they usually become adults? Does water temperature affect the speed of their growth? (my tanks are 68F)

Wow, loads of questions!
Axies can be kept together at any age/size - they only tend to nip if they are overcrowded and underfed. You could put them together now in a 10gal, but they'll need upgrading to a 30gal very soon.

Earthworms are the ideal food for axies - you can switch to worms now if they are taking them. Feed as many as they will eat in about 10 minutes, watch for regurgitation. You'll get a feel for how much your axies want to eat.

Axies mature at 8-15 months, final size can be anywhere from 7-15 inches long. Axies kept very cold (under 10C) may be slower to grow and mature, but keeping them too warm will have a shortened lifespan.
