Hi beginner tiger salamander owner here
I just recently redid my tiger salamanders substrate. The substrate the previous owner put in wasn’t that great. I have fine coco coir mixed with top soil. I was advised to look for an ABG substrate to mix in as well. I ended up buying one to mix in. Unfortunately it contains peat which I’ve heard isn’t good for salamanders due to the ph.
I missed the window to return it so I’m wondering if I could possibly use at least a little bit? (If not I can always use it for my plants) I don’t know much about ABG soil but I do have quite a bit of coco coir and topsoil I can mix in with it if need be
I haven’t opened the bag yet but it looks like the soil is not fully mixed. Like the layers are ontop of each other.
