I have a red salamander that will only eat live food. The ground is frozen where I live and the local streams are most likely contaminated with road salt right now, so colleting live foods is not an option. Anyone have any experience with getting caudates to eat dry or frozen thawed food? My salamander will literally root through a pile of frozen/thawed bloodworms but won't eat any and he completely ignores pellet food.

Why can you not get some nightcrawlers or waxworms at a Walmart or a bait shop?

There are no bait shops within reasonable distance. I plan on stopping by one next week but they don't even answer their phone so I'm not entirely sure if they'll have worms.
