Question: Adopted a male and female Axolotls sick

So a few hours ago I just pick up a male and female Axolotl from someone that did not want them anymore. The gills on both have been eaten at. The female is thin as my thumb.The one that had owned her said she was not eating and had not done so for just over a month. The first thing I have done was separate them. Two tanks. I have got her to take a few bites of Blackworms just want to see others views on this as I nurse them both back to good health.
