my axolotaL is like floating n he lets u touch him and he is normally really active... its really hot here but my other one in the same tank as him is fine!! im really worried.. he won't eat n he likes food!! we had beefheart danegling in front of him and he didn't care!!! should i put him in the fridge?? if so at wat tempreture.. it sounds so cruel to put them in there..

what temp is ur Tank at ? it shouldn't really be over 24c
as long as ur fridge is over 5c it is ok to put him in the fridge and is not cruel @ at all

if his tank is over 24c it is best to put him in the fridge or try to bring ur tank temp down slowly with frozen ice bottles, but try not to make too much of a change of water temp at once in ur tank. lots of people use the fridge to help heal there axies etc... aswell as my self not too long ago and no problem @ all. i used a 10lt square container for this with just enough water to cover him and if he is floating this will calm him

make sure if u do use the fridge that u do daily water changes with extra water kept in the fridge and also either pull the light bulb out or cover it so it doesn't freak it out every time u open the door. bear in mind he wont eat much when in the fridge, but offer him food every day.
beef heart it not a real good food for them only really for a treat now and then, live garden worms or axolotl pellets are a good staple food..

should i put a lid on him in the fridge.. we have him in a ice cream container... its small i feel so horrible!!! umm i think the tank is around 25.. but my other one is ok... im quite qorried aobut him.. he hates us puttin our hands near him normally and he acutlly lets us touch him at the moment... he has always refused to eat axolotl pellets... the pet shop told us he had grown up eating beefheart...

a lot of people here use ice cream containers and as long as it can streach out i cant see a problem with it, as they go very dormant in the cold water and dont move much at all, it probably wouldnt hurt to try find a lid although from what iv'e read u dont even have to put breathing holes in the lid as the colder water contains much more oxygen, beef heart is ok as a treat as i said but u shouldnt really feed all the time because of the high fat content and will cause problems further on down the track, frozen blood worms are very good too and axies seem to love them, but they can be a bit messy

yes i would say so, but if u can turn it up a cpl of deg it would probably be better, mine was @ 6-7c
also wrapping the container in a towel helps with temp changes from opening the door, also check out the post in the beginers section on Most nutritional foods for axies "might help" mine love garden worms

but make sure u get em from some where that there are no chemicals present

ok, ill try that. hope he can breath through a towel.
