I have read that when rearing axolotl eggs that there should be an air pump used with an air-stone that should be placed at the far end of the tank.Is this absolutely necessary to successfully hatching the eggs ? thanks in advance for the help..

I've never used an airstone with eggs. I just keep them in shallow water.

I dont think it's nececary, most photos of well dveloping eggs i have seen around here don't have one. I am using an airstone in mine, but my container is quite deep.
