I suppose I should firstly say there is nothing actually wrong with Albi, but I just wanted to know if I should discourage any of his strange behaviours.
He has a stick on log&plant near the top of the tank because he swims about almost non-stop, he loves his ledge, and I have pointed the flow of the filter at it because he LOVES sitting in the stream (he clings to the sponge and sticks his nose in the outlet). Anyway, Albi's absolute FAVOURITE is when the water level drops so that when he sits on the ledge his top half is out of the water. He's sitting on there now looking very content, and quite shark-like.
His face is fully underneath, he isn't trying to get OUT of the water, he just loves being close to the top, and spends a lot more time there when the water level drops down.
Is this something I should actively avoid him being able to do - will he 'dry out' or damage his skin by sitting like this?
He's totally healthy - I can't see any problems with his skin, but am just curious if anyone has had an axolotl do this before and if I should make sure he can't stick out of the top!
