This animal was found by John Schilling a couple of weeks ago (I linked his post down under Pleths). He is letting me work with it within my breeding colony. It's a sub-adult of unknown sex (I wanted it to settle in before I stressed it any more), hopefully it will get to breeding size by this fall.

Is it a natural albino? Breeding albino's will be a cool effect!!

Yes, it was wild caught just a couple of weeks ago in CA. It should be an interesting project.

from the pictures i have seen, its looking like a male (the square nose) can you see teeth?

I haven't looked yet, I usually just look for the chin gland.

I still to this day cannot see the chin glands! i even took pictures before for others to point it out to me (its in an old post)-can you post pics of chin glands on your other male?

I'll try to. I have to put them on a piece of glass and shine a flashlight to see it, but it shows up well.

That's very cool. I was recently back in CA, and unfortunately didn't get to see any Aneides.

How long does it take your captive A. lugubris to go from hatchling to reproductive adults? Mike

I have some that hatch in Sep03 that should breed this fall, so a good three years. I suspect in the wild it could take at least four.

Awesome. I saw that thing on fieldherpforum.com and hoped it would get into the right hands. I am glad to see it did!

Good luck Russ.
