Here are a few (bad) shots of my new Ambystoma mabeei juveniles. I got 4 in all. Once they are adults i will try to breed them, of course.
I am keeping them in tubs for the winter, but in spring i will move them into a outdoor vivarium.

Update.

Unfortunately i lost one of them, it drown in around 2 inches of water with plants and a sloping shoreline, not sure what went wrong.
The other 3 are doing great. I believe i have 1 male and 2 females, though i am not positive. Here are some nicer pictures as well.

Thank you!

Also, i forgot to mention that these actually turned out to be Ambystoma talpoideum, not A. mabeei! But i don't mind as A. talpoideum was the next Ambstyoma species i wanted anyways.

They look like they are doing very well! Sorry to hear of your loss, they can be hard to work with sometimes at that stage. The ones you have left look very much like A.talpoideum rather than A.mabeei. Their range and habitat overlap quite a bit so i think you may have had a mix of the two species and they are very hard to i.d. that young.Generally mabeei have much more blue pigmentation in the small specks and blotches while talpoideum have a more speckled pattern.I hope all goes well and you get to enjoy them for many years to come.

I currently have a 3 year old axolotl, he hasn't been eating for the past couple of weeks and has lost a lot of weight. Hedwig usually eats bloodworms and earthworms just fine but now he won't even stud it. I've done a water change to make his nitrate lower and his water is at a good temperature

Hey guys I was wondering if my axolotl looks fine to you he/she (still don’t know) I’d activate and eating as usual but I did notice veins in the tail area.. let me know what you guys think! Also if anyone could tell if it’s a boy or girl that would be great! (Zolo was eating a worm and pretty sure the worm pooped XD)
