Sorry for so many posts regarding my paddletail ! the move we just undertook has unfortunately been very stressful for him :/
he's been acting strangely today -- climbing on top of the filter (out of the water) and resting there for up to 20 minutes at a time before slipping back into the water, as well as swimming frantically along the top of the tank like he's trying to get out.
i'm worried he's reacting to a buildup of ammonia in the tank -- i was forced to do a near 100% water change for the move, but i was able to keep the sand wet in his original tank water throughout the move so i'm hoping the bacteria in it survived and that the spike is relatively low because of it.
unfortunately, due to orientation (that runs from 9am to 5pm) i wouldn't be able to make it to the local pet store (open from 10am to 4pm) for a test kit until next weekend. i ordered one on amazon but it won't arrive for a few days.
i plan on doing a 15% water change tomorrow once i have safe water available, but i won't know the actual water quality / amount of ammonia until wednesday. how worried should i be for his health until then ? how often / how much should i be doing water changes ? is there anything else i can do to help him out ?
thanks !!!
