Ammonia levels

Hi newbie here!
Wondering if I could have some help please! Tank is reading 0.5 ammonia level and I am wondering if I should add prime to the tank. Previously my tank was 0 for ammonia until a plant died I. There.
I have removed all the plant debris and changed 20% of the water, could anyone offer any advice. I'm so confused on how I can bring down the ammonia levels?

Do a 50% water change and make sure you add the prime to the water before you add it to the tank.
