Restarted my tank cycle on 9/2/23 using Fritz TurboStart 700 and started seeing ammonia go down the next day. I dose ammonia at 1-2 ppm daily and see it go down to only .25 ppm every 24 hours, but never 0. Is this ok?
The nitrogen cycle just started today, with nitrite being at 0.25 currently.
I will of course be doing a 25-50% water change after the cycle is finished to bring down pH (which is at 8.0 last I checked). I have not checked nitrate as my main focus is ammonia and nitrite, but if asked, I will get that information for you.

To reiterate:
pH: 8.0
Nitrite: .25 ppm
Ammonia went from 0.25 to 2 ppm after dosing with Dr Tim’s Ammonia
Nitrate: N/A
Temperature: 84-86F (ideal temp for bacteria)

AXOLOTL IS BEING TUBBED

the ammonia needs to be dosed up to 4ppm (although the bottle says 1-2ppm this is for a fish tank, axolotls produce the same amount of waste as an overstocked tank ie.. up to 4ppm)
make sure you have enough bio-media and that the water is oxygenated enough, once nitrates are being produced the ph may drop, make sure to keep an eye on it
due to the nitrites it would be unsafe to call the cycling finished.
