Hi everyone!

I'm looking for best water temperatures for Andrias davinianus. And I can't find anything.

I'm looking for an article too, unsuccesfully.
Haker, Klaus, 1997: Keeping and breeding of Andrias davidianus in captivity. Salamandra. 33(1): 69-7

Anyone can help me? Thanks!!

My question is: why would you need to know? I hope you don't have one...especially without knowing the basic husbandry in which you are asking for.

Why does he need to know? Um, probably so that he can learn about their care and possibly get one.
I don't know the answer to your question though Carlos.

I just honestly find it a little rude of BlakeK to assume that, and to me, it came across in a mean manner.

That's honestly the only reason I posted. I just don't think it was a nice way to say it, even if it wasn't on purpose. :(

I see what you're saying, Seth, but I also see where BlakeK is coming from. Owning an Andrias in captivity is a bit like owning a panda or a koala. It just isn't an animal that normally belongs in a private collection. Then again, Carlos may be working at a zoo. Who knows.

Also note that there have been scams where people online were offering to sell Andrias, but really just taking people's money. This is another reason to be wonder why someone would suddenly want to know how to keep Andrias in captivity.

Hello,

They live in very cold river systems, last May I went out to survey them and will be going again this year. The temperatures then was between 10-13C but within their range it can get as cold as Europe, so similar temperatures drops to our water in the rivers.

Hope that helps?

Why do you ask out of interest?

Kind Regards
Jay

Thanks Jay!! I Knew they lives in cold rivers but I didn't find exact temperature.

Obiously I don´t have Andrias. Is there any question more basic than Temperature to keep an animal?

There are a lot of reasons to ask for information. You have a PM with my interest Jay
