Hi Timon has developed issues. I went away for Chrisy for a week, I left 20 Glass shrimp in the tank for food over the week. since we got home I cleaned the tank tested the water and did a 30% water change. All levels are fine temp is approx. 16 degrees.Pumba is behaving and eating as per normal but Timon has started floating and gone of his food. If I touch him he gets upset and swims to the bottom of the tank then 10 min latter is back up the top. He likes sitting on top of a plastic plant with his head near the surface. I have an air stone so oxygen should not be an issue. He doesn't look sick (no fungas or swelling) and his tail is straight, I have tried to feed him earth worms his old favorite but no go. I know this is another floating thread but I tried "search" and came up with over 5000 hits. Any ideas?

Okay one of mine, Lini, does this alot usually only for a few hours. Do you know how long hes been floating? I found that rubbing their belly helps alot, as this is often caused by air/gas. Rubbing the belly will help axie pass this. Make sure your hands are clean, dont use any soap when you wash them though and only do this for a few mins at a time.
Failing this, i dont know any other reason. Sometimes they just like to float around. Lini was once floating for a few weeks almost constantly. I made a small Hammock from a plastic lid with some holes cut into it, and connected it to the tank with some string and pegs. Credit for this goes to AMBER! anyway, it helped alot, because it gave axie something to stand on near the top of the tank.
Keep us posted!

Sorry?

Sometimes axolotls just float. "Hang time" as i like to call it.

Just to let you know Timon past away today. His colour faded in the last 24 hours and he has now gone to a better place. He will be missed.

Pumbaa is fine a little lonely but still doing what axies do best. Got him a new friend today a bright yellow/orange red eyed little 10 to 12cm cutie we have called "Sunny". Sunny is in 24hr quarantine at the moment but tomorow we shall see if they can be play mates. Timon has left a hole in my heart but now maybe a ray of sunshine may brighten our little axie world. Thank you all for your kind thoughts.
