Are these really bloodworms (pics included)

Blackworms are members of the phylum Annelida, segmented worms. Just like earthworms. They're segmented. Bloodworms have large segments.

For comparison, here's a bloodworm http://www.naturegrid.org.uk/biodiversity/invert/graphics/bloodworm.jpg

and here's a blackworm http://carnegieinstitution.org/first_light_case/horn/images/blackworm4.gif

And for the record, the biggest supplier of blackworms happens to be Aquatic Foods, home of the California Blackworm http://www.aquaticfoods.com/index.html

If they are bright red and segmented and wiggle like mosquito wigglers, then they are, indeed, real live bloodworms. If you have those available locally, you should buy them (to support whoever is producing them)! I'm seriously envious!

Lol yea I asked my girlfriend (she works at a pet store) and she said there is some guy that brings them in all the time. He also brings crickets and mealworms. But my girlfriends work no longer buys his bloodworms because not enough people bought them!! But I am going to continue to buy them.
