AstroTurf type substrate in axolotl tank

Has any one ever used the astro turf (fake grass) stuff on the bottom of their Axolotl tanks? I've seen images in google, but I don't know what is safe to use,. Maybe the stuff for lizard tanks? I know I have to watch out for mold inhibitors. Do they even make such a thing that is safe?
Hellllllllp me, I'm about to set up my five axy babies new home (yes it will be fully cycled befor they move in)
