Hi. I was wondering what you guys wear when you go herping. I especially want to know what you guys wear when you know you'll be wading through a lot of water.

I usually go herping with the kind of clothes i´d use every day (i´m a slob), or if i know i´ll be going somewhere muddy, use some old boots i keep for such occations. If you have to wade through water i´d recommend a hip wader. I have one of those and it´s great. If you plan on using one of these, or impermeable boots or whatever, bare in mind that ideally you should desinfect them properly between uses and locations.

I don´t do this myself because apparently i can´t be bothered but i´d recommend wearing white or clear clothes if the area you are visiting has megafauna, because it makes spotting the ticks much, much easier.

Um... clear clothes?

I just wear my normal everyday clothes: t-shirt, jeans, hiking boots, jacket if it's cold, and rubber boots if I'm going to wade through water.

rubber boots if cold, water sandals if warm, comfy clothes. I always take a warm sweater and some sandwiches.

Oh, and Mom says clean underwear in case you have a mishap and end up in the emergency room.

I always take a spare pair of socks, and usually I don't go into water deeper than my rubber boots. If you are, get hip or chest waders and carry a spray-bottle of bleach solution. Get a pair of quick-dry nylon pants (or basketball shorts); if you wear jeans and they get wet, they stay wet all day.

LOL, ok. I was thinking, "I wouldn't want to go herping with Rodrigo if he's going to be wearing clear clothing..." You could have something going there though. Straight from Salamanca, Spain! It's translucent clothing! Gives you the look of nude with the comfort of clothing! On second thought, maybe that isn't a good idea...

hey, I've gone herping in the nude. Y'know. When I thought the best way to watch newt courtship was to float above them in the water watching through a snorkel mask. It was awesome!
