I've had axies since wednesday, We asked the pet shop where we got them for information about how to feed them they told me to feed them with Dillies 3 each 1s every day they also said they love prawns, I gave them some Dillies on Wednesday and then ate about 1 each and left the rest, I thought they may have been bored of these so I gave them 2 prawns each but cut up they ate a few pieces and left the rest, Can any one tell me if im feeding them right as they dont seem to be eating much?

that's 12.5 cm.... I think you should feed them daily until 18 cm or so...

It all depends on how much, what do you feed, how big they get

At that size you can compare their bodies wide with their head, they should look about the same wide looking from above.

and at that size they can eat earthworms without chopping... try with small ones first and see how it goes ;)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
