In less than twelve hours my guy Alec ate eight neon tetras and two small strips of kidney and I noticed how full he was yesterday and wasn't moving much, and today I noticed how he ate the last tetra and now he's sitting in his cave looking like he's swallowing or disgusting more food, even know there's nothing left in there.

Is it possible that his food is coming back up into his mouth because he's eaten too much and he's eating it again? When should I feed him again?

I would wait at least 4-5 days before feeding again. Yes, they will sometimes regurgitate if they eat too much, but I've never seen this happen the next day, it's usually immediate. Sounds like you need to cut back on the amount of food offered.

Thank you for your help.
Well we only gave him two small pieces of kidney so he may not eat all the Tetras at once, but it didn't seem to have helped at all.. .

Tetras are not a good food for them. Even one is hard to digest and doesn't provide much necessary energy for all the trouble digesting takes - and now... well, hopefully the little guy's system can handle it or is able to throw it back up.

Are you the poster that was asking about if axolotls can get ich ? If so, I would also be on the watch for any complications from the fish themselves. And if you're someone else, if you didn't quarantine the fish for 30 days, there is a potential risk of disease along with the current issue of trouble digesting.

Kidney isn't very good either. D:

Do you have access to nightcrawlers or blood worms ? I get my nightcrawlers from a local aquatics/reptile store, but I've heard people can find them at grocery stores, even WAL*MART ! Bait shops, too.

Another good food is carnivore pellets. Hikari Massivore Pellets are great for axolotls 6"+. If smaller, you'll have to cut the pellets - they also make smaller size pellets, too. :)

He seems fine now. He's not sitting around doing that swallowing thing he was. Yes I am the very one lol.

What's wrong with kidney? He ate that in seconds and seemed to go down easy enough. Our butcher gave it to us because of a friend of his was feeding it to his axolotl and it was 30cm and fat.

Not really no. We only have poisonous spiders running around. I do have frozen bloodworms but he doesn't seem to care too much for them. What kind of night-crawlers from the pet shops? I only know of crickets around here at our pet shops and have heard you need to clean up the heads and legs later on. We don't have Walmart over here, shockingly. Okay I'll have a look at those pellets and see if we can get any over here.

Thank you for your help. :),
