hello all,
to be clear, my mudkip is alive and well. however, eventually (hopefully far into the future) she will pass. i wanted to open a discussion on what would be the best way to dispose of her body.
my current plan is as follows;
- obtain a single-use plastic container.
- fill it with grass/moss (more as a sort of bedding for her body, as just putting her in feels cruel.)
- place her in.
- fill it the rest of the way with grass/moss, and perhaps some flowers.
- seal the container lid, then wrap the seal in duct-tape to ensure it stays shut.
- dig a hole as deep as i can manage.
- place large flat stones over the grave to help prevent animals from eating her and potentially spreading illnesses.

i'm not sure if this is the method i will end up using, as preserving her as a wet specimen or cremation are other options i may consider.
i'm curious as to your thoughts. what method do you prefer? are there any suggestions you have?
thanks in advance

I like the idea as a skeletal specimen. You could acquire some dermestid beetles. They will make short work of a small animal like a sally. You could display in resin or alone in some sort of case. Shouldn't be too difficult finding some in your yard or online. You could freeze until you locate some.

i agree. i looked into wet specimens a bit and decided i would have to hire someone to do it, but i think i could handle skeletal preservation. i have experience in cleaning bones/teeth for jewelry, so im not worried about any issues degreasing the bones or cleaning them

Cool, show us some of your work. Sounds right up my alley.
