Hi there,

They say axolotl don't have eyelids, and therefore they don't blink.
However I definatly see my axolotl blink during their feeding, sometimes when they "nom" they blink 1 eye :p
So does this mean they DO have eyelids? :p

Cheers

That blinking you are seeing is more than likely causes by their eyes helping them to swallow. It is more apparent with frogs when they eat they normally do a long awkward blink because when their eyes close they are pressed downward into the mouth nudging the food to their throat. If your axolotl has actual eyelids then it is probably going through metamorphosis, but that is unusual.

Nahh, it's that weird blink, it looks kinda weird :p but I can see the similarity to frogs

I've seen my axies "blink"
It's to help the food go down. That worm was a feisty one!

my axolotl blinks all the time, yet he is morphing anyway o.o

Mine doesn't quite blink when eating, its like his eyes are being sucked into his head to push the food around lol.
