i was changing my 7 month old axolotls water yesterday and had him in a seperate tub while cleaning the tank. i picked him up to move him back into the tank and he leaped out of my hands, he fell about a metre onto wooden floors. i quickly scooped him up, put him in the tank and left him in the dark for a bit to reduce stress. he has what appears to be some broken blood vessels in his tail and a small rip. just wondering if there’s anything i can do to help him or if i should be doing anything different :(

you should put in an indian tea leaf. they are a natural medicine to axolotls. is there is any floating or tilting i would advise taking him to a vet. also if there is any vomiting pls contact a vet asap.

Everything I see in the photo is pretty normal for having fallen like that. Just keep a close eye on him, but I don't see anything to indicate serious permanent harm. They are amazingly resilient little animals. Keep him in extra clean water for a few days to monitor him, but he should be fine. Black tea baths can help sooth any minor abrasions.
