Cal the Axolotl

I'm a fairly new Axolotl Owner. I've began to notice my little guy's frills are a white-ish brown color during the morning. But come evening when I feed him, they turn a vibrant, reddish-pink. I'm assuming that has to do with blood flow, correct?
