I was hoping for some advice.
I came home after a night away to find one of my axolotls gills are atrophied.
My water chemistry is fine: pH 7.6, Nitrates and nitrites 0 ammonia 0. Water temp is 20 degrees.
There are two other axis in the same tank.

Has anyone seen anything like this? I wonder if two of them got into a fight given its only on one side.
Hoping for some care advice as well. I have fridged this one, and dropped the temp to 17 degrees in the main tank.

Hello, that looks like signs of a possible fight or your other Axolotl just mistook this one’s gills for food. I’d put a divider in the tank for a bit until it heals to keep them apart but otherwise it should heal fine on its own. Keep an eye on it but otherwise it should be fine. The forward facing gills show the poor thing is a bit stressed over the ordeal so a good relax in the fridge probably isn’t a bad idea.
