Hi!

I just came back from a holiday and noticed my axie’s hands are looking a bit worse for wear.
Hoping anyone can help with finding out why this happened and how to fix!

Thanks!

read this .. Axolotls - Requirements & Water Conditions in Captivity
because of how delicate axolotls toes are they are easily damaged through scrambling around which can leave them open to infections and fungus, there is no redness (as in blood red) so it would be mainly fungal infections to watch out for whilst healing hence the link which will give information on using 50% holtfreters.
having something in the tank to walk on will help prevent further occurrences (plain glass bottoms will cause more slipping and sliding than using sand/slate/rocks etc..)

Thanks! Would you recommend something other than glass bottom? I was thinking about putting slate at the bottom but thought glass would be better but if not I’ll definitely change it!

because adult axolotls walk rather than swim a lot a means of purchase would be more ideal (glass bottoms can be like an ice rink)

Ok cool, thanks! I was scared something bad had happened and it was a lot more serious than putting slate in the bottom
