Just noticed today that my axolotl seems to have a cloudy eye!! It's only one eye, and it could be something on the side of it or over the whole eye, I can't really tell. I did an ammonia test and the water seems fine. Any ideas?? Is this kind of thing super dangerous??

I've had him in that tank for just over a year, I am yet to check the nitrite and nitrate but all the others are normal levels. Bryce is about 1 and a half too, and he seems completely unaffected. His eye has been like that for a few days.

Okay so you need to be able to test your water with liquid test kits as those parameters are vital in us being able to help. What are the actual parameters.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
