This is my male 2.5 yr old axolotl. It seems he got nipped by his tankmate (theyre usually very well behaved so this was definitely an accident). Im worried his tail isn’t growing back well the last photo is how it looked when I first noticed. Also his left hand is looking strange and his gills are quite short. (The others’ gills are absolutely fine so idk what’d affect only the one’s gills).

Does anyone have any insight?

because the damage has been done to the tail itself rather than just the dorsal it (damage to dorsal fin tends to heal but sometimes showing permanent damage) should grow back fine but may take a while.
gill growth can be down to genetics ie.. some have long fluffy gills whilst others can have short or miss shape gills, provided the gills are healthy and doing their job it won't effect an axolotls health.
the rear leg digit does look like it has suffered a slight injury, possibly been scraped on something whilst moving around (axolotls aren't the most graceful or careful animals).
