I quickly joined the forum to get some help after my axolotl, Bubba, got injured and I don't know what to do, so I'm sorry if I didn't post this in the right place. So, yesterday I was pouring some water into his tank because the water level was low. In his tank there was a small barrel decoration (which I removed after this happened and will not put back), as I was pouring the water he got spooked and darted full speed headfirst into it and got his head as well as his left arm stuck inside. This has never happened before because I thought he could fit right through it. He started to thrash around and he was trying to swim forward to get out, which would've gotten him more stuck. So, I gently lifted the barrel up (still underwater) and held it vertically, as well as putting my hand on the front so he could only go backwards (he was using his back legs to pull himself out). Suddenly he thrashed like crazy and the barrel slipped out of my hand, so for a second he was sinking and thrashing with a barrel stuck to his head. I was able to quickly grab it before it hit the bottom and he pulled himself out. His gills are torn up and his left arm is really beaten up, his right arm a little bit is a little bit torn as well. I attached a photo (sorry for the lighting) of his right arm to show the injury (I don't know why he floats at the top of the tank, he does it a lot). I think he's in a lot of pain because he holds the right arm up a lot. I am going to do a large water change today and I'm just wondering if there's anything else I should do, any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for this being so long, I just felt I should add all the details because I'm really worried about my little Bubba :(

keep the water cold, if you are administering methylene blue do so in a separate tub so as not to damage the tanks bacteria.
keep an eye on the injury so it doesn't get infected or any fungus growth. if the injury get bad then it ma require amputation.
