I see someone who has "proffered help" to people on here who routinely defines themselves as an "Axolotl newb" and then if you do a cursory glance through their threads, you find they are "not too concerned" about keeping their own axolotl at temperatures of 25-29C because it was the temperature their animal was raised in its entire life. IDK but I think that animal is sadly dead by now from the poor treatment.

But I'm wondering if we can be more precise about what it means to be an "Axolotl newb". I'm an "Axolotl newb". I don't have an axolotl, I don't have an aquarium. I literally started researching them for a friend whose daughter was talking about they want one and then I went down the rabbit hole of researching them myself.

Literally, a 30 second internet search yields that axolotls are cold water amphibians and they can't survive at temperatures that are as high as the self-defined "Axolotl newb" was keeping theirs. I'm just so sick that someone would do this to their animal, especially after having been warned but I'm not sure how anyone cannot condemn the continuous treatment as animal abuse.

But can we not define "Axolotl newb" as someone who has just acquired an axolotl but rather as someone who is new to researching axoltols. If a 30 second internet search yields that axolotls are cold water amphibians that cannot survive at 25C but you're not too concerned keeping them at that temp yet are on an internet forum, IMO, you have the internet, you can look that simple fact up (not to mention are told by people on this forum over and over that it's a deadly temperature for the animal), then you shouldn't style yourself an "axolotl newb" as you clearly didn't learn a basic fact about your animal. You're an axolotl tormenter.

IMO, if you're on an internet forum, you have access to the internet, you can look up very basic facts, care guides, recommendations from experienced axolotl keepers, and learn to set up an environment that is best for your animal. You can learn tank cycling in about 3-10 minutes of internet research. You can learn about water conditioners such as ReptiSafe, Seachem, and AquaSafe. You can learn about how to treat fungal and bacterial infections with salt baths and tea baths, etc. Just owning an axolotl doesn't make you and "axolotl newb". There should seriously be a major difference between "axolotl newb" like myself and "axolotl tormenter".

Sorry, I am at a loss for how to keep my anger and frustrations over what happened to that poor axolotl despite the repeated warnings to its owner anymore.
