My lotls spawned a few weeks ago and the larvae are finally taking shape. It seems like I have 5 distinct phenotypes:
Dark wild type, Golden wild type, leucistic, leucistic albino, and gold albino.

Not sure if the "leucistic" ones are going to darken up, but it seems like I got lucky and both adults were heterozygous for the mutant gene. I can't guess at their axanthic or melanoid genetics, but I think I figured out the parents' mutant and albino chromatophore genes. The estimated and actual ratios are even pretty close.

Not heard of Golden Wildtype before, I know they can hold yellowish speckles in their skin pigment though.

As they grow you'll see a big change in colour with the wildtypes.

Where does "copper" fit in?

And can you tell me where I might find some information about phenotypes and genetics? I'd like to learn more ?

Thanks Donna ☺ I love that website but still found the generics confusing. Ironically I was really good at them at high school lol perhaps it's time to read again with a stiff cup of coffee and a screen bigger than my phone! ?

I am right there with you are far as genetics are concerned. I used to be very comfortable with genetics, but when it comes to axolotls I get lost so easily. I'm not sure coffee helps, but a bigger screen will.
